About Me

About

Mary Baca is graduate of Belmont University where she received a BFA degree in Production Design. While she has a focus in production design and technologies, she has worked on and enjoys almost every aspect of theater. In her time at Belmont, she received six Kennedy Center American Collegiate Theater Festival Nominations for her work as costume designer for Aide Et Réconfort and And The Word Became Flesh (A Devised piece based on the Gospel of John), sound designer for Crumbs From The Table of Joy and 36, and her work as stage manager  for Yankee Tavern and The Visit. She attended the 2019 Prague Quadrennial (PQ) and experienced theater, workshops, and lectures from all over the world. In Spring of 2020, she was assistant director for the classic restoration comedy, The Man of Mode, set designer for an in-the-round musical, and she received an award from Belmont University for Outstanding Achievement in Technical Theatre. Shortly after graudating, she moved back to the Chicago land area where she has and continues to work as a production manager, stage manager, teacher, technician, and designer. She is inspired by stories about history, human connections, and honest representations of human life. She is a sucker for an underdog story. She finds inspiration from historical research, other forms of art, places, music, and more. She believes that each project that she works on is unique and that each story requires a different approach.
